There are different ways to follow Jesus in the footsteps of Mary Ward.
“Vocation” – a word that tastes of MORE, of what Saint Ignatius of Loyola called “THE MAGIS”: Longing, meaning, fullness of life, a task and the experience of being needed. It sounds like someone who is calling me personally and with whom I can give my life a unique shape.
People all over the world are inspired and enthusiastic about Mary Ward and her way of following Jesus. There are different ways to join our network and become part of the wider Mary Ward Family.
Mary Ward once said: “I listened to God’s deep dream for me and felt a longing to respond.”
In this spirit, we invite you to pray with us. We offer a variety of prayers and material for reflection.
Mary Ward founded the CJ on Ignatian principles, adopting the spirituality of the Society of Jesus for women who live and work actively in the world. Therefore, the Ignatian Examen for us is not simply one prayer among many – it is central to our spiritual identity.
Mary Ward inspired people over 400 years ago and her legacy remains relevant to this day. We have reimagined what her values of freedom, justice, sincerity and felicity look like today and designed different material to be used in schools, youth groups and for other purposes within the Mary Ward Family and beyond.
Lona, a young composer from Bamberg (Germany), has composed new songs based on famous words by Mary Ward. Sr Ursula Dirmeier CJ has written and recorded meditations to accompany them.
