Earth Day 2026: Together for the integrity of creation

Rome
14.04.2026
On 22 April, we join in celebrating "Earth Day" to highlight how essential it is to preserve creation, our common home.

As the world is preparing for Earth Day 2026 on the 22 April, the Congregatio Jesu joins the global celebration with a deep conviction: caring for creation is not separate from our mission – it is at its very heart.

JPIC: A hallmark of our identity

For the Congregatio Jesu, the commitment to Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation (JPIC) is a hallmark of our identity as followers of Mary Ward. To walk in her footsteps means to promote JPIC in all circumstances and to work continuously so that the resources of mother earth remain available for all – especially future generations.

From vision to action

Our engagement goes far beyond symbolic gestures. Through the Mary Ward Laudato Si’ 7-Year Action Plan, CJ communities and schools worldwide are embedding ecological education into daily life – from curriculum initiatives to community-based sustainability projects.

This Earth Day, we invite all members of the Mary Ward Family to reflect on how we can deepen our care for our common home – in our communities, our schools and our daily choices.

How Can You Get Involved? Here are some ideas:

  • Participate in local Earth Day activities in your community
  • Explore ecological education resources through the Mary Ward JPIC Office
  • Engage with your local JPIC coordinator to plan actions rooted in Laudato Si’

Together, let us continue Mary Ward’s legacy of courage and justice – for people and the planet.
