Memories of our beloved Pope

In 2014, Pope Francis visited South Korea, and we remember him for his warmth towards religious, lay people, and the vulnerable.

We especially remember him for meeting with the bereaved families, including one CJ member who lost a nephew among the 300 students who died in the 2014 Seoul ferry disaster.  At the time, the tragedy had become a political issue, dividing the left and right.

On the flight back to Rome, Pope Francis famously told a journalist who asked him about his political neutrality, ‘There is no neutrality in the face of suffering.’
