Our CJ community in Uzhhorod is fully involved in the Roman-Catholic parish of the Holy Trinity, which was founded in 2000. Currently, there are three of us. Uzhhorod is a city in the far west of Ukraine, located very close to the Slovak and the European union borders, so the situation there is relatively calmer than in other parts of Ukraine. Many internally displaced persons come here in search of a safer place to live.
Today, Uzhhorod has twice as many inhabitants as before the war. We try to serve everyone we can. Our parish is lively, we know people and live with them, we do many things together.
- We teach catechism to local children and youth, organize camps and trips for them that strengthen relationships and grow their faith. We play the organ and have a small but quite successful choir. Every year, Kristína CJ accompanies three groups of our parishioners on Ignatian spiritual exercises in everyday life. Marietta CJ leads a Bible study group for adults, who really enjoy it.
Some of our CJs from Slovakia join us for a few months, according to their possibilities, to support us and participate in our ministry.
Here are some photos that show you our life and joy in serving God and others whom we love and want to stay with.
