On Tuesday morning, 5 November, the Holy Father Francis visited the Pontifical Gregorian University to meet with his community on the occasion of the Dies Academicus.
Pope Francis was greeted by Fr Arturo Sosa, Vice Grand Chancellor of the Gregorian University and Provost General of the Society of Jesus, who emphasised how the presence of the Holy Father ‘confirms us in the mission of making university work an effective instrument of collaboration in the mission that the Lord has entrusted to his Church’.
Also present was Sr Lucia Boasa CJ, who has begun studies to receive the Safeguarding Diploma at the Gregorian University and was ceremoniously presented with it on this day.
Following the Pope’s visit, Fr Hans Zollner SJ, Director of the Institute of Anthropology at the Pontifical Gregorian University, emphasised: ‘Pope Francis has encouraged us, all people worldwide and especially our students, who come from so many countries, in their work for the protection of people. He has invited us to be there especially for those who have been hurt and are suffering.’
