During her first visit to the Australian Province, Sr. Veronica also visited Timor-Leste. Discover more about her experiences.

The General Superior, Sr Veronica Fuhrmann CJ, together with the Provincial of Australia & South Asia, Wendy Hildebrand CJ, and Monica Suchiang CJ, accompanied by Angela Slattery CJ and Natalie Houlihan CJ arrived in Timor-Leste on 21st March 2026 for a visit to the CJ mission in the country.

They were warmly welcomed by members of our formation community and by members of our development groups — Hamlale, HAFUCO, and the Mary Ward Sewing Center — in Ostico and Triloca. The group also visited the Loreto Preschool in Gariuai, where the children joyfully greeted Sr. Veronica with a beautiful traditional dance.

During the visit, they also met the Bishop of Baucau, strengthening the connection with the local Church.

Sisters Veronica and Natalie, remained until Friday morning, the 27th, spending additional time with the sisters and women in formation.

This gracious visit has been a moment of great encouragement and blessing for the mission, and we believe it will bring greater clarity and renewed confidence as we continue to grow towards greater responsibility and independence in our mission with the community.

We thank them for taking the time to visit and for their continued support and accompaniment of the Madre Loreto mission in Timor-Leste.
