Webinars on Safeguarding

As an important part of the preparations for the international Training for Safeguarding Delegates, (which will be hosted in Korea later this year), on July 16, two webinars brought together the CJ Provincial/Regional Superiors and members of their respective Provincial/Regional Councils.

Tina Campbell, our Independent Safeguarding Consultant, led the two Webinars with a focus on the safeguarding responsibilities of Provincials/Regionals and members of each Provincial/Regional Council.

In her presentation, she highlighted three key areas:

Firstly, that the responsibility for all safeguarding matters rests ultimately with each Provincial/Regional and members of her Council.

Secondly establishing and maintaining good professional record keeping. The scope for such documentation ranges from and includes low level concerns, procedures for unacceptable behaviour and allegations of abuse. Tina stressed the importance of compliance with Mandatory Reporting as stated in Vos estis lux mundi (2023) and adherence to the respective civil laws regarding the reporting of allegations.

Thirdly the importance of having a Safeguarding Team in each Province/Region. Following the Webinars, those who attended were sent some useful resources to assist in these important aspects of safeguarding.
