One very noticeable aspect of the Advent season in Sydney is the abundance of purple everywhere in the parks and gardens. The Jacaranda trees are just coming to an end as Advent begins, but the purple and white Agapanthus take over, the Coral and Flame trees and Bougainvillea are all competing for the most spectacular show of colour and beauty. They always draw me in to reflect on our purple vestments and candles, calling me to take time to prepare for the coming of the Christ Child in prayer and thanksgiving. Come, Lord Jesus – creation heralds your coming!
