Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Residence of the British Ambassador to the Holy See, Rome took place the book launch of sr. Gill Goulding – Pope Francis and Mercy: A Dynamic Theological Hermeneutic.
In this fascinating study, Sr Gill uses Pope Francis’s sermons, speeches and encyclicals, as primary sources to examine the crucial role mercy plays in Pope Francis papacy.
With a delicate accuracy she explores the theme of mercy in Francis’ thought, its Ignatian foundations and its Christological, Trinitarian, and ecclesiological significance for the Church today, and in particular for the Curia in Rome.
One of the most touching moments of the launch was the sharing of the meeting Sr. Gill had with Pope Francis and his encouraging words to her, as a woman theologian, by acknowledging her contributions and commitment to the Church.
