Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and Mary Ward

Featured Image

On the day when the body of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI will be exposed in St. Peter’s Basilica to receive a final farewell from the many faithful who have come to the Vatican, we want to remember Pope Benedict XVI – who in his childhood was a pupil in a Mary Ward school in his native Bavaria – with a reflection that he himself wrote about our foundress, the Venerable Mary Ward.

Homily on the Fourth Centenary of the birth of Mary Ward 23rd February 1985

We are grateful to the Lord for his life and for having declared Mary Ward Venerable.
May the Lord welcome her into His kingdom of peace and make him contemplate His face.
