On Saturday 28 January a Mary Ward celebration was held in the Slovak Province. The members and our Mary Ward friends met throughout Slovakia in three places.

The West Slovak communities and the community from Vienna met in Bratislava at Majakovskeho community, the Central Slovak communities met in our newly opened Spirituality Centre in Ružomberok and the East Slovak communities met in our Mary Ward Centre in Prešov.

We felt very blessed to be able to meet  and celebrate in person after the Covid time. This brought us a lot of joy. The mutual sisterhood, friendship, our sharing and enjoying each other was a lifegiving blessing for us. Thanks to modern technologies we could connect with our Sr. Villana and Sr. Anastasia from Kyiv where there was, thank God, enough electricity which made the connection possible.

We began our celebration with common prayer and reading of the Mary Ward letter to Fr. General Mutio Vitelleschi SJ from 1622 which completed the reflection of the MW week´s day on her letter to Nuncio Albergati, about why she was so convinced to take the Ignatian way of life and proceeding.

After a time for personal reflection we shared what her determination meant to us and for which aspect of our Ignatian spirituality seen through Mary Ward’s eyes we were grateful in our lives. At the end of our inspiring sharing we completed our celebration by Holy Mass celebrated by the Fr. Provincial of the SJ in Slovakia. We prayed for the whole Mary Ward family and peace in the world, and mostly in Ukraine.

We are bringing you some moments with some pictures from the celebration in Bratislava.

Venerable Mary Ward pray for us and give us your spirit.
