26 July: On the road to freedom

“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath”. (Mk 2,27)

From God’s point of view, what serves all people (including me) is good. Nothing should hinder us  from achieving this goal  become independent.

The felicity of this estate (for as much as I can express) was a singular freedom from all that could make one adhere to earthly things, with an entire application and at disposition to all good works

Mary Ward

For this it is necessary to make ourselves indifferent to all created things in all that is allowed to the choice of our free will and is not prohibited to it

St. Ignatius: Spiritual Exercises, No. 23

We pray:

  • That we may be free, or allow ourselves to be free, from that which enslaves us.
  • For all those who work for others.
