On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the presence of the CJ in Merano (BZ), an exhibition entitled ‘Educating Women 1723-2023’ will open tomorrow Friday, 9 June, at the Merano Women’s Museum and will be open until May 2024.
“The temporary exhibition is a tribute to the great willpower of a female religious order. The English Ladies shaped women’s education in South Tyrol: at the same time, they realised a piece of gender equality. Entire generations of girls and women have received their education from the ‘Englishwomen’, regardless of their social background‘, this is the tribute paid to the CJ 300 years after her presence in Merano and reported on the museum’s website.
On Saturday, 10 June at 10 a.m., a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Bishop Ivo Moser will be held in the Church of St Nicholas to commemorate this important anniversary.
The General Superior of the CJ, Sr. Veronica Fuhrmann, and Sr. Angela Nero representing the community in Rome, as well as many other sisters of the Congregation, will also be present at this celebration and at the opening of the exhibition.
