“Everything has a good end for the one who can wait”, so the Advent wisdom of Leo Tolstoy. Waiting and trust (in the good end) belong inseparably together. Consciously enduring the fact that – despite all one’s own actions – the promise and the work of God are unavailable quantities.
But anyone who has ever seen the desert blossom knows that we can trust that God – like this tree in Israel – will use every little crack in my sometimes “petrified” daily routines, in the often so tight of my life’s schedules and breaks, to fill it with new vitality, to make it grow and green up what it is to become.
