The Congregatio Jesu has been running a primary school in Mbizo / Zimbabwe for 20 years. 1,150 girls and boys currently attend it. The CJ sisters of the Zimbabwe Region have long wanted to open a Mary Ward secondary school to ensure the continuity of education up to the age of 18. The sisters received state approval for this two years ago. The second photo shows the start of the construction work in autumn 2018. It will be built in three phases, each for 240 pupils. The first phase of construction was completed in early February 2020. The inauguration of this phase of the building took place in the presence of the General Superior, Jane Livesey CJ, and the Provincial Superior of England, Frances Orchard CJ, besides  other CJ sisters, parents and well-wishers. It was a pleasure for everyone involved to admire the pupils’ workbooks and to chat with them about the fact that they are the pioneers of a new school. At the end of the opening ceremony, four trees were planted. The morning ended with a solemn thanksgiving Mass in the hall of the primary school in Mbizo.
